Dynamics 365 Finance has an asset leasing module, but plenty of teams run Business Central or a configuration without it, and still need clean ASC 842 entries in the general journal. The calculation itself Dynamics won't do for you.
ROU Asset does the ASC 842 work and exports a general-journal CSV shaped for Dynamics: a posting date, document number, account, description, and a single signed amount per line. Approve, export, and import into the general journal. If your instance expects a different column set, clone the layout in the template builder.
At close you pick the Microsoft Dynamics 365 (General Journal) layout and export the batch.
Journal Batch NamePosting DateDocument No.Account No.DescriptionAmount| Account | Debit | Credit |
|---|---|---|
| Interest Expense | 2,528.44 | |
| Lease Liability | 7,471.56 | |
| Lease Clearing | 10,000.00 | |
| ROU Amortization Exp. | 8,653.97 | |
| Accum. Amort. — ROU | 8,653.97 | |
| Balanced | 18,653.97 | 18,653.97 |
Either. Both import general-journal CSVs. The built-in uses a single signed amount, which Business Central's general journal reads directly; for Finance & Operations you can clone it and adjust columns to your import definition.
The built-in Dynamics layout uses one signed Amount column. If you'd rather have separate debit and credit columns, clone it in the template builder and switch the amount mode — both produce the same balanced entry.
Keep your GL. Let ROU Asset do the lease math and hand it a file that imports clean.
